Hess Tower

We love puzzles! Especially when they are on top of buildings like this example at Hess Tower in Houston, TX.

Due to the location of a mechanical rooftop unit a standard column could not be used. This solution was developed by Haynes Whaley Associates, Inc.

The centerpiece of this unique structure is this 3.5″ thick built-up steel box beam weighing over 7000 lbs. which received connections from 7 directions.
